In America The early performances of Maureen FitzSimons (who we know as Maureen O'Hara) would definitely have put her in the category of child prodigies. This was a very natural trait for a girl from Irish origin, and who was surrounded in her early days by talented relatives and parents. Maureen made her entrance into the safe haven of her parents on August 17 1920 located in Ranelagh (a suburb within Dublin), Ireland. Her mother, Marguerita Lulburn FitzSimons was an accomplished contralto. Charles FitzSimons ran a Dublin business, and owned shares in the Irish Shamrock Rovers soccer club. Maureen was the second child of six FitzSimons children - Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen enjoyed playing sporting games in her youth and excelled in sports. Her naturally-born interest with her ability to perform was impressive. She was awarded nearly all Feis Award for Theater and Drama the country could give. In the age of 14, she had been accepted into the Abbey Theater, where her ambition was to study the art of opera and classical theatre.
