Shay Mitchell is an actressmodeland businesswoman from Canada. Most well-known is her being the character Emily Fields in Freeform's Pretty Little Liars. After achieving great results in modeling and dancing, she wanted to try her hand at acting. She took acting classes in Toronto. Mitchell landed a few commercials, and guest appearances in a television show. Her big break occurred when she was chosen as Emily Fields. She was praised for her abilities by critics as the fans. Her film career began with the film Dreamland, followed by Mother's Day, and The Possession of Hannah Grace. She starred in"You," a psychological thriller, and it earned more attention. Apart from acting, Shay Mitchell also dabbled in writing. Together with Michaela Blaney she wrote the adult-oriented book Bliss. Shay Mitchell was raised in Ontario with her parents Mark Mitchell & Precious Gonzalez. She was born 10th April, 1987. Her father is an Irish-Scottish man and is of Irish descent. Mitchell is the cousin of Lea Salonga, the famous actor in musical theater and singer. Mitchell attended Rockridge Secondary school before she moved onto West Vancouver Secondary. Mitchell was already modeling around the world by the time she reached her teens. She travelled to Barcelona Bangkok Hong Kong before eventually returning to her home country and studying acting in Toronto.
